Who is Happy in this life? Nobody!

Who is happy in this world? If you look around, you shall find people have lots and lots of problems. I bet there is no house on this planet which doesn't have any problems. I did some research online to get some stats with regards to increase in diseases like blood pressure, tension, depression and mental disorders etc. The stats are alarming. They might not be perfect but estimates give us a good idea. Let me quote a few facts and stats:

  • 15% of the population of most developed countries suffers severe depression. According to WHO: Depression has so far affected 121 million people worldwide.
  • In Canada 10-20% of youth is subjected to mental illness.
  • Around 1 million people commit suicide every year, which accounts for one death after every 40 seconds. More than 90 percent of these people have mental disorders

We find that the most prominent causes of this are:

  1. Stress be it at home or work place
  2. Family issues
  3. Poverty
  4. Unemployment
  5. Financial burdens
  6. Huge expectations
  7. Need for luxuries
  8. Peer pressure
  9. Lack of good and sincere friends
  10. No helping hand in need and much more.

At the end of the day, the question that arises is? What is the root cause of all this? Are all the rich people of this life happy? No. Here is a list of top 10 personalities who attempted to commit suicide. This proves that people of all ages are suffering one way or the other. Some go to high extreme and thus suffer the consequences, some keep to themselves while others try to take it out on others. Only a small portion of those try to figure out the reason and solve the problem.

Happiness and satisfaction has nothing to do with the money. When things are not going your way, an internal battle starts within you. Your mind starts reacting in different directions. It is in your control to either be strong and think positively or let negative thoughts occupy your mind. For example: you lost your family or a loved one in an accident. What do you do? You either go in to depression thinking that it’s the end of the world or you calm down and admit that everyone has to go one day or the other. This is how the life cycle goes on and adapt to changes. If you have financial problems: you go on and commit robbery, fed up and commit suicide or work harder than ever to earn a good living. If your current job is not paying you good, go on and find a new one; if not then work part time elsewhere. Still not good enough, then cut your unnecessary expenses and if all doesn’t work then look at those who earn lesser than you and learn how they are surviving.

There is a solution to every problem in this world. Ask God for help and guidance. Pray to him and do whatever is in your hands. Remember, life is full of tensions. No single person on this planet is free from all worries. This is not possible. Only those remain happy who are satisfied and contented with whatever they have. As I wrote earlier be strong mentally and learn to face the challenges in life my exploring yourself.

Remember, if you run after the world, God will you into the hands of the world but if you run for the love of God, the world will run after you. So stop taking these worldly problems too seriously. They are part and parcel of life!
